A Virus- Why Us ?
The world is in the grip of a microbe, that threatens to unleash an unprecedented genocide. A virus that's technically just a stand of RNA, which infects and then hijacks the protein synthesis of the host at the celular level. A particle that's doesn't qualify to be termed as 'Living' nor can it be relegated to a non-living molecule. Perhaps a quantum phenomenon of simultaneously being both. It perhaps is a program, that gets embedded into the hosts hardware and converts the host cell into making viral clones, in fact a highly efficient virus making factory. When the host immunity is overwhelmed, it's game up.
As the world comes to a standstill, economies getting annihilated, the human race as a whole is terrorised, held to ransom. Some inconceivable power, is unfolding an unfathomable, design of which the virus is just a tool to effect the destiny of mankind. The surface needs to be scratched to look deeper.
The human race has indeed become very self centered, insolent, dispassionately greedy and oblivious of marauding and molesting the planet and it's resources. This neurotic, insane, self-centered culture has to be reigned in. Relentless,travel, fossil fuel emissions, global warming, are fast depleting the protective ozone shield. Deforestation is disrobing mother earth and shamelessly exposing her. Pristine lakes and water bodies have been adulterated with effluent and toxic waste. The conscience of mankind was long dead and buried, with "Here lies buried- Humanity,the last remains of humankind" written on it's epitaph. As the stock markets crumble, and economies are reduced to rubble, it figuratively signifies the demise of his greed and lust for more. A tragic social order, where hedonistic lifestyles reeked of an arrogant, remorseless indulgence,. Accumulation of wealth far beyond ones needs has become the yardstick of success. Need metamorphosed into insatiable greed. Families had become nuclear, and were rapidly on their way reducing to isolated 'nucleus' individuals with a one point agenda - Pleasure. The human race was racing too fast in pursuit of more. A more with no end in sight. Gratification that was mutating from pleasure to perversion. The planet was under invasion by man's devious, exploitative guile. A civilisation of hedonism, that is threatening Mankind to a point of self destruction, with no trace of temperance. The throttle of insane indulgence had to be pulled back. But he was not paying heed to the ramifications of his actions. It was time for some kind of intervention, that made him stop in his tracks and pause for a moment. His selfish ways had to be shackled by injecting a dose of discrimination and restraint. His insensitivity had to be neutralised with an antidote of compassion, caution and concern. The trajectory of Civilization that was hurtling on a morally, ethically and environmentally decadent path had to be corrected. Someone had to desperately press the reset button. Life had to be rebooted and the corrupted hard disc had to be debugged. The human race had to be woken up from this hypnotic slumber by a harsh alarm.
The virus is probably a reminder to mankind, to slow down his frenetic pace of gratification. It has curtailed his lust for more, made him aware of his fragility and mortality. This virus will eventually lead mankind to austerity, compassion and introspection. Social distancing was the need of the hour in a world densely networked,mired in a vulgar display of flamboyance and extravagance. This lockdown has in some measure reduced the carbon footprints that had senselessly trampled the environment. This virus is surely much more than just a strand of Nucleic acids with a protein coat.
This virus is possibly, a vaccine, that's curbing the virus called 'Humans' that's infected the planet. A vaccine to redeem mankind from the curse of consumptive insanity.
