Present day political ideology and opinion is getting radicalised as never before.
The right - left divide is cleaving the
geo political environment globally.
President Trump, Brexit, Prime Minister Modi, all have split the masses into either ardent supporters or then vicious haters. Whatever the grounds, Political, ethnic, religious, financial or ideological, the schism is obvious as are the intense likes and dislikes. Are their politics and ideologies so radical so as to warrant such extreme opinions?
What is really this right- left divide?
What's the fundamental difference between these two ideologies?
Political scientists and other analysts regard the left as including anarchists, communists, socialists, democratic socialists, social democrats, left-libertarians, progressives and social liberals. Movements for racial equality and trade unionism have also been associated with the left.
Political scientists and other analysts regard the right as including conservatives, right-libertarians,neoconservatives, imperialists, monarchists,fascists, reactionaries and traditionalists.
Political ideologies are not water tight compartments, and labeling leaders or parties as rightist or leftist, is anachronistic in today's days and times. One could be inclined to either side when dealing with different issues. Fidelity to right or left cannot be an indicator of the integrity of an individual.
A democratic nation or society is founded on the concept of "majority". The democratic ,electoral process merely translates this majority into a verdict that empowers the party or the leader. Safeguarding the interests of the majority cannot be labeled as rightist.
When President Trump toughens his stand against immigrants, tightens and restricts the process of H1B visas, he is safeguarding the jobs and futures of the American citizens. Prime Minister Johnson strongly favored Brexit to safeguard the interests of the British citizens. Their ideologies were citizen centric, rendering all right,left nomenclatures irrelevant.
I'm ideologically neutral. Politics and Religion are mutually exclusive. It is an impossible task to please everyone. What eventually wins the day for any leader or party is welfare of the citizens. Holding the beauraucracy accountable, creating awareness of personal hygiene, improving infra structure, being patriotic are some of the virtues of a good leader. If these objectives are in conflict with some groups or communities, they cannot be viewed from the narrow myopic 'right left' restrictive perspective.
Quantum physics revolutionized classical physics by eliminating the "either or" rigidity of classical physics with a much more abstract, but real simultaineity. Light could simultaneously be a particle and a wave.
Modern political ideology too must take a cue from Science and evolve to a simultaneous right left. Or better still, it would be 'right' if this right-left is 'left' alone.
